How much did that knock sensor cost? Mines in bits, but never occured to me to buy a new one, if it was badly frayed, would it affect the ignition timing much?

Cheers Paudie, I'm trying to end up with it looking as clean as yours!

Oisin, I bought the knock sensor off Bahn Brenner for 60 dollars, about 45-50 euro. Genuine bosch and all.

I'm mounting the intercooler in the lower part of the front bumper. hence why I knocked out the circular tacked in plate that would've been under the air box, I'm going to route the IC pipe back up through that.

That plate under the air box is great!!
Perfect for piping cold air to the box or as your doing with the boost pipe

I have done a few more bits, and had some more stuff arrive in the post. i changed the front engine mount because the old one was shot. this should stop that engine rock.

I got a slim line fan for my radiator, Here it is fitted and all:

I also got a front mount intercooler, will be going behind the bumper:

I got a bung for the lambda probe, just need to get it welded:

Cheers Brian, the rail is a cheaper copy of the bahn Brenner one, but it's fairly well machined and the injectors sit in lovely. I cannot wait to finally hear it cough to life, I'll make sure I capture it on video for ya!

Yeah they're very rare now, unfortunately due to the rarity there is no support whatsoever should any problems arise with it! the only turbo technics parts I have retained are the turbo, exhaust manifold and downpipe. Everything else is aftermarket. I am going to hold onto the turbo technics loom, injector, throttle elbow, intercooler and pipes in the meantime incase I ever get a cheap 16v I could throw them on!
 
I dont think its a standard front mount Dave, standard has a metal housing with a flattened front. Standard mk3 maybe?

So have you any guesstimate on having it running Conor? Its one of the only project cars on here Id have most interest in so will be checking back on occasion.
 
nice.

be careful with those boost pipes. they look like they have no lips/swages on them and could come apart under high boost.

X2,

run a line of weld around the end of each pipe and there'll be no fear

those hose clamps are the job,stopped one of my boost pipes from blowing off!

i like there the boost pipe is going on the drivers side,very clever

Thanks for the replies guys. I couldn't get boost pipes with the lips because I have to do alot of trimming to get them to the right size! They should be ok though, you can really stitch them on with those clips.
