i always said this car wouldnt end up been a project
because of the other car .
i had it up for sale but decided to hang on it.

afew bits about the car,
its a 1990 8v gti,
3dr sunroof model
86,000 miles on it .

i bought it pretty much as standart other than the lowering springs and shock kit, the orginal bbs ra wheels just refurbed and afew other little bits.
since then iv done a good bit of mechcanical work and these,
yellow fog lamps,
i changed the grill back to the orginal one, repainted the red stripe and black vw badge.
hella head lamps.
orginal orange front indicators
orginal side indicators
miltek exhuast system.
4branch i didnt get the on it yet.
pipercross induction kit.
removed the gti spoiler and changed the window from a cl mk2.
removed the vinyl on the boot.
removed wiper.
german plates.
i took out the hid's i cant stand them.
all red tail lamps.
painted the rear badge and number plate plinth in vht crackle black.
15"inch bbs rs
i bought the bbs rs's off a friend .they are oringaly off a porsche 930 turbo.
rears are 15x11 and the front are 15x9.
im building the rears down to 9.5j .the orignal barrerels are 7.5 and putting together afew pound for brand new 5.5 barrerels to make them 9.5j
the dish is 3.5" inch il have to re check.
the fronts are 9j with a 2.5"inch dish
and running 20mm adaptors
they needed a refurb.
all the dishes repolished .
mirror polished the nut caps.
brand new stainless steel bolts, bought off vwspinner, thanks to anto130 for droping them off.
brand new geniune bbs badges (black and sliver ones) and geniune bbs valves and dusties.
i picked up the adaptors from trevor brady
rims are on 195/45/15 all round

jom coilovers with helper springs out

i started on the arches today.
the front wings are cut like the g60 wings , and protected with acid etch primer seam sealer and under sealer.
and il be cutting about a inch out of the rear arches and welding them up.
and hopfully some g60 arches
il get afew pictures up.

the plan is to have all these bits done for the limerick show.

when i first bought the car,

some pictures after.

you cant really make out the crackle black but it looks great on the car.

more pictures to come

Looks like a nice setup your going for!! I've the arches all cut outta mine to to house my 9j Borbets as well. .
I personally think you should keep the 11j for the rear as i have my 9j's spaced out 20mm at the back and i wish i had a bigger dish, why exactly are you rebuilding them down to 9j?? Take loads of pics of the arch work you do please as i would like to see how you went about it!! Mines tidy enough but could be tidier, nobody can see the work under the plastic trim but i still know it could be done slightly better, very fussy me!!

Looks like an interesting project with potential.

Wheels will look very well. Have you sourced Porsche adapters? You'll need to do some homework to get them fitting snug but I'm sure you have that already in hand based on what you've mentioned.

Thanks mike.I got the adaptors but one is damaged and needs a skim .
Remember the ones Trevor brady was selling.
Ah plenty of messing around with the rear end to get them fitted but I should be able to get them spot on.

Have to say I prefer the single light grill with the red line tbh

but other than that it's nice
all red rears are wicked!!
X2 on the grill

X2 on the lights tho
