Mk1 Gti Big Winter Project

Hi All
Ive had this GTi in a Shed for last 10 years approx and yesterday was informed that i had to move it out of shed so it was the kick in arse i needed to get started tonight i went down pumped the wheels towed it up road to garage(behind a feckin Seicento thank god wasnt seen)and after new battery few taps of hammer to fuel pump she started up couldnt believe it not a rattle from engine and purring like a kitten was last on road in 1998 see tax disc

Anyway as you will see from the pics i have a lot of work to do but the plan is to drive her to inters next year (Edit 4/2010:eek:r maybe 2011) so watch this space progress will be slow but ill put up pics when work starts to take shape

have a new skuttle panel and hoping to have word on Apillars but ill keep your panel in mind i need about 7 inches up on R/H pillar and 4 inches on L/H would your panel have that much of pillar

Speaking of engines, what have ya in mind for this when shes done? Original rebuilt, or original+?!

Removed the skuttle panel and outer skin of A pillars ,repaired up inner section of l/h pillar and both drip rails,
just need good outer pillars now and then on with replacing the skuttle panel,not 100% happy with fit of new skuttle so plan to get good replacement from donor
have repaired any rot under sound deadening in plenum chamber just have to clean and re-seamseal, prime & paint plenumn before fitting skuttle
as ill have great acess to the whole area and even from factory it wasnt painted that well

Yea & thanks again for bringing it to tullamore for me from GEO's & the guages will look super when in my center console

on l/h it is on r/h a small bit short i got the shell from dan to cut pillars out off but as usual i look at shell thinking it too good to cut up
