Maxol will be doing 99 RON fuel from September. It's called E5 and confirmed as 99.2 RON. Check out maxol.ie

It doesnt look like 99.2 to me.
From Maxol.ie

For the first time throughout Ireland, drivers of standard petrol powered vehicles will be able to use a bio-fuel without risk to the car manufacturer's warranty. It is being introduced at all 150 Maxol service stations nationwide in September.

Maxol is replacing its regular unleaded petrol with its new E5 fuel - a blend of 95% petrol and 5% locally produced bio-ethanol which will retail at the same price as standard unleaded petrol. Maxol's E5 fuel has been successfully piloted at over 24 service stations throughout the North East of Ireland since September 2006.

The bio-ethanol fuel in E5 is 100% organic and is currently made from whey, a milk derivative and a bi-product of the Carbery Milk Products Cheese plant in Ballineen, Co. Cork.
The rollout of the E5 green fuel is another first for Maxol in the Irish fuels market, following on from the launch of their E85 fuel (85% bio-ethanol) in September 2005. It is also further evidence of Maxol's commitment to renewable fuels and to helping the Irish Government meet bio fuel consumption targets set out in EU Directives. These targets require bio fuels to account for 5.75% by 2010 and 20% by 2020.

Tom Noonan Chief Executive of the Maxol Group said: "This move towards ethanol use helps Ireland to meet EU targets. It is a win for consumers who benefit from lower emission fuel at no extra cost, a win for agriculture which can now develop interests in ethanol production and a win for the economy in that it could potentially reduce our imports.

Although 5% may seem at first to be a small percentage, when applied to every litre of petrol that Maxol sells through its 150 service stations in the Republic of Ireland, this adds up to a very significant amount of locally produced, renewable and carbon neutral fuel. Renewable fuels are an essential part of our future and our children's future and Maxol is keen to develop initiatives in this area to help our environment. While this is simply another relatively modest step along the path towards fossil fuel substitution, I can envisage a time in the not-too-distant future when the only fuels from Maxol service stations will be bio-fuels."".

The Maxol 99Ron will be the same price as the existing 95ron, as its a "greener fuel". Finally something good has come out of being green!

AFAIK its the same petrol that Tescos use in the UK as 99RON fuel.

How can it be 99ron, when it is just 95 with an additive "made from whey, a milk derivative and a bi-product of the Carbery Milk Products Cheese plant in Ballineen, Co. Cork."
Would Tesco not be promoting it as a leener greener fuel as well then?

Hmmm, I know my local Maxol has had E85 for a long while, but I wouldnt let it near the G40, but I am wondering now if I have been unknown to myself been putting this new E5 stuff in it.

Not sure if I am impressed if Maxol have been experimenting with stuff like this in customers cars unbeknownst to the public to be honest

i cant wait to get some in my car! i'm building my mk1 so i can run on E85. my local maxol in mitchelstown hasn't been upgraded yet to hold the stuff but it will soon. a few of my friends with jap turbo cars (s13's s15's & scoobys) are getting remaps to run on e85 (104 octane
Image
) so they can get more power. it must be good stuff if Dave Walker says so. he could run 17% more boost on a 924 turbo he converted.

True, but you will need an increase of about 22% more fuel flow from the pump and injectors as the calorific value of E85 is that much lower. I have read the articile and it's very interesting, as the 924 is not a car that give a lot of power increase without spending a lot of money.
I have e-mailed Maxol to ask them about the RON and MON numbers and the calorific value of the fuel and still waiting for a response. As soon as I get it I will post the reply.

There is a guy in dublin with an e85 200sx, he took it to the rally of the lakes this year and had to drive to cork everytime he needed to fill up

thats the reason you should get an emerald K3 or in a vag case REVO. so you can have switchable maps.

As per Maxol's FAQ section on maxol.ie

What is the Octane Rating of E5 compared to ordinary Unleaded ?
The Octane Rating of Ordinary unleaded ranges from 95.0 to 95.9 - average 95.5. The Octane rating of E5 averages 99.2

What is the Energy Content (Calorific Value) of E5 compared to ordinary Unleaded Petrol?
One litre of Unleaded has a calorific value of 31 MJ.
One litre of Bioethanol has a calorific value of 21.2 MJ.
One litre of E5 has a calorific value of 30.51 MJ.
One litre of Unleaded emits 2.36 kg of CO2.
One litre of Bioethanol has a calorific value of 21.2 MJ.

What's the difference in Carbon Emissions between ordinary Unleaded and E5?
One litre of Unleaded emits 2.36 kg of CO2
One litre of ethanol emits: ((2.36/31)*21.2)*0.5 = 0.81 kg CO2.
One litre of E5 emits: (0.81*0.05) + (2.36*0.95) = 2.28 kg CO2.
(5% ethanol : 95% petrol)

The difference in emissions between one litre of Unleaded and one litre of E5 is thus estimated to be 3.4%.

Wont e85 damage an engine thats not modified to suit?? i thought ya need hardened valve seats to cope with it or something.. E85 is only 15% petrol anyway..

you need to get your car remapped to increase the fueling, now for the
Image
bit, advance the timing (104 octane) and in the case of a turbo car tun the boost up!!!!!!!

Regarding map switching for E85 .

The first thing you need to do is run bigger injectors as there is a 20% increase of fueling to produce the same AFR ratios

To run a car in std with E85, the injectors cant cope . What you can do is put larger injectors in and map it , and then change the "scaling" to run on petrol

As regarding E5 , cars will run fine causing no damage .I Need to go testing as the AFR will be a little differnt and will like to see what engine management errors will come up . eg System to lean ect
