<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Tell me about, gobshites just sitting in the overtaking lane, know you want to get by and there is no cars in front of them
whats their point
they cause the feckin accidents, because your trying to get by them and you have to undertake.
The funniest part is getting on the motorway early on a wet day - the fast lane is completley dry and inside is completley untouched !
What the country needs is driver education and awareness, the fact is we've never had motorways before and we just dont know how to use them. You have to hand it to the Brits, the slowest person over there is still doing 70mph.
This country is too negative - advertising campaigns for deaths, speeding, points, but not a single sign or advert reminding you what lane to be in, to use indicators or how to use a roundabout. I'd say half the country never had a roundabout when they did their driving test, and a learner isnt even allowed on the motorway so you've no chance there either. Look at the UK's chevron distance reminder, simple and effective.
Has anyone in this country even been stopped by the garda for hogging the outside lane ? I dont mean prosecuted, just a slap on the wrists or a warning.
If people used the lanes properly, this bitterness of letting someone in front of you would stop, tailgating would stop, quicker traffic would move on, and we'd have a much more efficient road network. I'm not saying it's gonna solve M50 carpark problems but it would certainly help the newer stretches.
I think we need 3-lane motorways even moreso than the Brits, we've less traffic - but look how close all the interchanges/junctions are, the traffic doesnt have time to settle down.
