There is a castrol edge range, one with a rating of 505.01. Then on the website it says there is a direct replacement for the longlife, castrol edge 5w 30w with a rating of 504.00 and 507.00, problem is it doesnt have the .01 at the end which the PD should have

Found this on the castrol site, I use sometimes. I think what there saying is that this is the oil to use, but must be changed every 10 K miles, 15k KM. I use it myself, but to be honest I dont get many PD customers. Personally I would change it sooner, as the PD system generates large loads on the oil. Definetly sooner if the mileage is higher than 100,000 miles.

John

i use or should i say used the longlife and was changing it at 6 to 7k whether i needed it or not. what price is the castrol 505.01?
you can get /Total 505.01 20 ltr drum €88+vat (106.48)
that 4 oil changes at 10,000 miles intro
I don't know as yet. I got a 200 litre of my oil for normal stuff the day before Christmas eve and the rest I need is coming first week of jan. Most oil is gone up 20% in the last few months, so as soon as I get some in I will let you know

Keep going with the 6 to 7k oil changes, as it will pay in the long run. We have 3 very high mileage customers who are very good with oil changes, as below

Civic taxi 1400 cc, 320,000 +
Primera 1600 cc 170,000 +
Passat, one private, one taxi, 200,000, 165,000

These cars are running like clockwork.

Like you say guys, it might be longlife but it should be changed regularly anyway to be sure. I put Castrol Longlife in my mothers mk5 Golf 7,000 miles ago and will change it before it has 8,000 miles done.
