Afaik the passat only got a ko3! And that's the only vw off the shelf will fit, there are after market "ko3s" turbos, basically a ko3 altered to take either ko3s/ko4 impelors..

 

I have a 2001 Passat 1.8T engine code AWT, And it has a ko3 turbo.

I agree with babyface about there only being the ko3 from factory. So the 2002 should be AWT then too, shouldnt it?

 

Afaik all longitudely mounted 18t's got just a k03, some later ones got and upgraded k03 I think but it was still a k03, the BHP difference in later models was done through upgraded ECU's (a map\re-map).. also turbos from transversly mounted 18t's won't fit the longitudely mounted engines..

There not the exact same... The 052...053...058 seem to be the ones
to go for i presume those 3 are what people call the k03s??

As it says.......

The following turbos are a further development (since 2000) and have an improved and slightly larger compressor while using the same turbine (still with the same installation dimensions): K03-052 180 hp, 85 N actuator K03-053 150 hp, 85 N actuator K03-058 150 hp/180 hp, 85 N actuator
Consequentially, putting a 180 hp turbo on a 150 hp engine will not bring about any change in performance, but putting on a K03-052/053/058 instead of the older versions will bring a slight improvement in engine efficiency. Additionally, with re-mapping the ECU you can achieve about 215 hp without danger of overspeeding the turbo. With the older turbos, 195 hp is the limit.

What ever the name you want to call it, it certainly exists.
I put one on my Agu, it has 8 impellor vanes instead of 12. The original tip wouldn't fit, the ko3s was too big.
Maybe kkk don't recognize 'ko3s'...after all, s stands for 'sport'... pub talk if you ask me!

 

they are different but definetly not worth upgrading from ko3--->ko3s, the have a different amount of vanes IIRC.

no not plural

but i got a k03s (thanks dublindub)and ill be happy with 215bhp maybe 220 with a good map and fmic and no cat

yes. Ko3s is used when referring to two or more of the K03
