yes.........but you need to swap over engine mounts, rocker covers timing belt covers and manifolds, and on some of them the oil cooler too

only just swapped a mk4 pd engine into an a4 2 weeks ago

I was thinking of putting one into a Mk1 golf.
00 and 01 Passat 130's seem to be a lot cheaper than the Golfs so might be a better option as a doner.
Electrics will be a pain though.

00s wont be 130bhp just to warn you, and im open to correction but the pd130 wasn't out till 2002

 

Passat gearbox won't fit.

It's not a transverse unit.
