ok this migh sound likea bit of a weird one...but i think my 1.8turbo octavia vrs has to be remapped.. i bought the car 5 months ago,, not knowing too much about what mods he previous owner had done as i bought it from a car dealer.. on paper these cars are meant t be in around the 180bhp mark if im correct ?. well ive had 200bhp cars,,ive had 220bhp cars,,ive evn had a 260bhp car., abd the vrs would hold its ground with most of these.. in my experience with them. ive clocked 0 to 60 times in it and tey all are aroundthe 6 to 6.5 second mark. i als think this is way above standard times,. i also gave a mate who drives a 300bhp evo4 (dynoed at this ) , a quick race out an un named road. and it could not get out by my vrs,,,later the guy asked me ,,,what in the name ofjesus do u have under the bonnet of that car..lol. i also let people who know there cars,,,take my car for a drive to see wha they tink,,and before i tell them what it is standard they all say this has to be 200bhp..so my queston is,,,, how can i tell if my car has been remapped

Forget your VRs have your mate get his Evo checked out for running problems

Unless what you bought was micky32's vrs 's twin there's something seriously off with the evo!

A good remap can make them feel very lively and can put down the power very well and uniformly, like the evo may only be 300bhp for about 300revs, and the rest of the time it may be tame enough... whereas the vrs maybe running a very aggressive map...

Go to the RR day, its a great bit of craic, and all will be revealed.

I got mine recently remapped the turbo whistles alot louder after the remap. Mine kicks in at about 2500 and you will know the difference, the vrs standard feels quiet sluggish compared.

If it has had a remap the vrs's push between 190 to 210 if your lucky but the torque is what makes the difference. When I got mine remapped the turbo was at 97% and really couldn't push much more and we only got just under 200bhp out of it, but saying that the torque increased from 173 lb/ft to just under 250 lb/ft thats where you'll notice the difference.

Sorry I'm not very good at explaining things.

But if your ever around the Dublin area you could always put it up against mine see the difference!
