if michael moores is a dealership then i dought that he even paid for it,
through work i have alot of dealings with a BMW steeler around here and the owner of that always has the latest model and he never pays for them, he had a new M5 for a few months now he has an geourgeous black M6, before that he had a top of the range x5 for about a year, its all advertisement for there garages
and the funny thing is that his wife drives a 3 year old showgun jeep
Big time
THe guy who runs the 2 main chippers in Portarlington has a lovely 5 series and his mrs has a sweet a4 S Line ! with full kits etc.................
Hmmmm..............time for a new job me thinks.............how much for a dealership franchise ?????
QUOTE (Rapidude @ Feb 20 2006, 04:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I'll second that, A mate of mine got a new DB9 in January.
Anybody think the South is catching up with the North?
yeah it is!
there were always a few special cars about but now they are everywhere
things like continental GT's are fairly common, and astons are getting that way too.
Cant be bad really.
I still laugh at the 2 360 ferrari's on Baggot street here in dublin having a race off from the lights!
The sound was awesome!
was up in belfast last week and went in for a look at charles hurst stock and spotted a southern reg car in behind a fence so went over for a look, I saw the following souther reg'd cars in the service yard,
04C ferrari 360
03D bently arnage
06D bently siver spur
2 X 05D Bentli Conti GT
94D ferrari 456
94G ferrari 348
98D ferrari 355
05D maserati 3200GT
04D maserati Quatroporte
04G maserati Quatroporte
93D Rolls
all this wealth in the country and then on the other side we have the poor feckers on here trying to sell their GTI's, Corrado's etc to fund deposits on new houses/apartments...
I meant to bring it up before but if I had a nice car that I'd saved/worked for, I would be slow to sell it on advise from wife/girlfriend/bankmanager etc

Exactly - when I was building my house I sold my Golf Gti - this is back in 1990. I know I got a good price for it but it was just a drop in the ocean when it came to the spending on the house - its just not worth selling your nice car to fund a house IMO.
Might be different of course if you have a car that is close to half the price of the house - but simply selling a car to get €4,000 - €5,000 is madness.
Keep it and enjoy it - the house / apt will still be yours by using other means.
I think its a bit different in Dublin but down here some of the richest people living here only drive Nissan Primera's and Passatt's etc.
We have farmers near us who are millionaires and always only drove 15 year old bangers.
It sometimes amazes me when people think because I have so many cars that I am loaded - they have me bloody broke so they have - but sure we all have to have some pleasure's in life.

As well as having a real job, I gig 3 nights a week just to have my GTI and apply for a mortgage. I refuse to sell it for any bank manager... just couldn't do it.

Serious amount of VRT in that yard.
I know at least 2 people that bring their Bentley or Ferrari up to Hursts for a service, its all about the full dealer history with a car like that is'nt it
Ehhh, Id love to know how many of those guys actually own their cars and exactly how much they owe the bank!
Its so easy to get loans etc, thats why I hate Silver MK4 5dr Goofs, Theyve taken over from the moped and Micra/fiesta, every spotty scumbag chav in my area has had a MK4 on his way to owning an 3series!
My Mom is always on my case to get a new car, she has a 04 Bora, I just dont do nu cars, I find em too boring, she cant get her head round the fact that I'm happy with a MK2 8v and ole Bugs!!!
Drove a 67 Split van last year, from the RDS to Wicklow for its owner, the Bus was a fresh 40k Resto built in the UK and I reckon it turns more heads than any Ferrari!
If I was spending ferrari dollar, I be havin a collection rather than one car
MK1 on 13's
MK2
Slammed Split Panelvan
Resto-cal Oval Bug
Blown 2.3L Small window bug for 1/4mile action
Pimped 67-72 Merc 350se
Lowrider Impala
Some ole 911
T4 or T5 transporter fo me bikes
and either Pimped and bagged 95 on A8 or 93-98 Merc S500
Along with an Aprilia RSV Mille
RS 250 GPbike
old Guzzi zagzto cafe racer
Triton Cafe racer
KTM525 super moto
KTM250SX
KTM450SXF
KTM990 Adventure
Blinged and bored Honda CRF50
that is some collection Dirty fair dues keeping all them on the road, must be great to have such a choice of what to drive any day,
unfortuantly i was like so many sold a new car when getting my new house, i sold my new car and added it to 35k saveings that i had, and it took quiet a few years of the life of the morgtage, so at least now i can actually see an end to the repayments, and i wont be repaying after i retire from what ever job i have then
Hursts is a great place and the lads in the specialist cars center are cool!
When i was last up there a few years ago, picking up a basket case roller for an old boss i had, there were tonnes of southern reg cars in for servicing, Maserati's, Ferrari's, Astons and rollers mainly.
In Ireland people get ridiculed for having something a bit flash but if you have the money go for it!
I know once i can afford something nice, maybe a 993 rs
, i will go for it.
No idea how long that will take
The other issue with getting a flash car serviced is the risk of it getting throttled around the place. You’d be sure your 355 or Gt wont get the bollix driven out of it by some forecourt petrol head if its in Hursts for a service, why bother take out a used car when there are 2-3 new F430s/lambos R1s to choose from.
