Ive just noticed that iol broadband has gone to 2mb , i was thinking it was faster alright


If you want broadband plus for an extra 10 euro a month its 3mb.

That's only if it's availible in your area. I hear all this advertisment's on the radio, and it pisses me off that we can't get it. Up until 6 months ago we had 14 kps, slower than snail mail. We asked for another line for a fax, knowing there asw none availible, and eircom was legally obliged to supply a box on the wall, ran the internet connection on that at 48 kps.

How much for the IOL package mickey?

Also are you based in longford town or out in the sticks?

I'm looking at getting broadband in carrick on shannon but a lot of companies still have to work there way up here (Smart telecom etc)

Longford town, TBH i think Longford is actually very lucky to have it and its been here a couple of years. Funny thing is just 5 miles from me people have the 14kps option

Unfortunatley we dont have coverage in Cork yet, someone snapped up our frequency licence down there and we're in the process of trying to buy it back. Sorry!!!

But it would be €35 per month for the 1mg, €40 per month for the 2mb. no connection fee either.

Ok, how about Carrick on shannon, Leitrim. I'm assuming the same price anyway!!

IOl is covered there, and for 30 euro you get 2mb.

Yup, Eircom wholesale did a major speed upgrade on the DSL backbone over the weekend. So whether, you're Nethop, IOL, Esat, Netsource or Eircom.net then you've automatically been upgraded.

Even upload speeds have been increased. The maximum DSL speeds are now 5MB download / 512k upload
