This is how i bought the car. I will have it ten years in April.
It started out in life as an English F reg 8v gti, two owners from new, i bought it here from the second owner, it only had 73.000 miles on it when i got it.
First mod i did was to fit some chinese door handles, really like these over standard ones.
Next up was to change my wheels.
4 928s fronts. Love these wheels, still have them for my mk1 cabby.
Next on my list of mods was to fit some coilovers. Bought some cheap second hand corrado G60 FK Koni ones and lowered it a little.
I picked up 2nd place at the GTiNI castlewellen show and the judges pointed out what i needed to do to get my car to a show winning standard. (Obviously standards have raised alot since)
I picked up some Chrome 3 door window trims from a German car i found in a breakers yard.
So that leads me on to my run of bad luck.
After doing a few repairs to some rust blisters, fitting some G60 front brakes and lowering the car a little more, i was ready for my spin to the VAGE show in Fermoy. I travelled down the night before for a few beers with the Cork lads and up early the next morning to head for the show. While Sitting in traffic i glanced in my rear view to see a Nissan Micra skidding towards me. with cars in front and to my right i had no choice but to sit and wait!.
The damage could have been a lot worse. I never took any photos of the damage it's self as i was so annoyed.
The rear bumper took the brunt of the damage.
I took this as a sign to get the whole car painted.
New Oem wings bought
Painted
So next is, the engine conversion. Bought from Geo.
I also went all out and bought a lot of new bits and pieces for the car.
Fully rebuilt Rallye block bored out to fit golf G60 pistons.
polished and ported head
boost return delete
Stage 4 g60 with a 68mm pully and chip to suit.
G60 golf front mount intercooler
supersprint stainless exhaust from the manifold back
4 branch manifold
all samco boost hoses in black
I converted the car from a cable clutch to hydro clutch
K&N panel filter in a drilled box, i will be changing this for a SWG twin inlet setup as soon as i paint the lid with some textured paint.
some refurbished G60 calipers and new discs
new KW variant 2 coilovers
Eibach anti roll bars front and rear
full polly bush set front and rear
Seam welded corrado front cross member with a vibratechnics fast road mount
new genuine gti arches and rub strips
new cl small bumpers
I done a deal with a mate on some 16v leather for my Chrome window trims
bbs steering wheel
Audioscape door pods
Bought a mk2 gti i found for very small money because it had some Happich windows in it.
Sold the car to my brother then for what it cost me and switched the windows, it had electric windows and mirrors too so they were also switched over.
I got a chance of some Recaros (thanks Glenn) cheap so bought them up quickly and sold off my front 16v heated seats.
Engine out
new one in.
I didn't take many photos of the transplant progress.
The car didn't have power steering from the factory so i fitted that too.
On to the wiring.
My car is RHD and the engine and loom came fro a german car so the loom had to be extended.(Thanks for the help Bohall)
I removed the 16v fronts and replaced with these bad boys.
These are my favourite mod on the car.
