do people mean 4.5 litres after mixing? to do just the outside? if yes then i'd agree, if thats before mixing than thats ALOT of paint! to flat a car down properly you'll be taking off a good amount of the paint, you'll want to make sure there is enough on!

no shit, I painted a car with 6 rattle cans once. Complete colour change. 6 years later it's still that colour.

I don't know why people bother paying pro painters a fortune for painting cars...

sorry lads ( pro spray paint) is a brand name,i was trying to find out if anybodies used or heard of it?

 

I was only messin. While I did actually paint a car with 6 rattle cans I can totally see the point of paying for a professional paintjob.

 

When I done my mk1 inside outside and engine bay it took 4lts of paint plus hardener and thinner so your looking close to 6-6.5 lts in total

Lads when you say hardner do you mean a laque coat?

When you go to do a respray yourself firstly we would be sanding down the vehicle, YES

Then youd be giving it a coupla coats of primer??

Then youd be giving it coupla coats of colour, 2 minimum. ?

Then when thats dry youd be giving it a final coat or two or laque?

And i suppose the most vital point your all leaving out is the size of the spray gun nozzle, im sure they are all vary in size therefore more paint quicker or slower coming out therefore using more or less paint?

Anyway just looking at the various posts on varying amounts of spray being used then thats the only conclusion, oh and of course skill level.

 

No , hardner is what you wdd to 2 pack paint to make it go off . Lacquer is like a clear varnish on top of the base coat , it's that stuff you see , like a sheet of plastic , lifting off metallic colour cars where someone got excited with a steam cleamer around the stone chips .

 

as a panel beater myself 3litre mixed would be enuf to do a mk1 golf all round, thats 2pac paint none metalic, we sell 2pac at work from 40euro a litre plus 20 for hardner and thinners, thats over 1.3 litre mixed ready for paint, we are usen du pont it is the best on the market wen can mix and match any colour off our spectrow meter, it takes a picture of the paint and matches it and mix paint on site,we can also match metalic colours if you dont no the code and order in the paint

anyone looking for work done feal free to ask,have my own place in the evenings and have the use of a very large commercial oven where i work no job to big or to small,

ok im asking, mark two golf bonnet,blow in the wings, do the scuttle area and a few little dots of rust around the roof and sides. Ballpark figure, in jade green LN6V.

id have to see it, does the bonnet have to be painted both sides? dots of rust on the roof and sides.do you mean the side of the roof or side of the car.is thet green a metalic colour dont know it off hand
