Thats about right maybe a little optimistic as the m25 is a bastard of a road, between 6-7.5 hours would be what i would have said.
It all depends on what sort of speed you cruise at on the clear roads
FYI they will most prob stop you and detain you over night if caught over 100 mph

I agree with ya Richard, I use the AA driving directions whenever I'm in the UK and they do work a treat.
But there is no way you can do it in the time given. The last time I used it was from Manchester to Holyhead, the directions and milage where perfect and said that it would take 2.5 hours. I was hitting the road at about 80 - 90 (km's of course
) and it took me 3 hours.

So be warned

Cheers lads,

hoping to do Le Mans this year, just trying to work out schedules!

work on 7-8.5hrs just to be safe...

any seasoned euro travellers know a quicker way to France?

was banking on the tunnel as there seems to be a run every 2hrs approx...

I drive to the south of France every year and it definitley works out better to get the ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg.
I know it takes 18 hours, but the travel times are perfect.
You get the ferry from rosslare at 4 in the afternoon, then something to eat, a few pints then a good nights sleep. The ferry arrives in cherbourg at 10 in the morning and you should be in La Mans mid afternoon.
Works out a hell of a lot cheaper too.

if you are driving in England be aware if youre coming out of service stations not to take the wrong turn, thoes motor ways all look the same.....
for example if youre driving from Pembroke to Oxford and youre nearly out of Wales so you decide to turn
into a service station between Cardiff and Bristol because you had been on the move for over 10 hours and when leaving the station you take the wrong exit and double back onyoureself nearly all the way back to Pembroke..........
not that anybody would be that stuipd...

they run more often than 2hrs. Book a landbridge with stena if your going this route its much cheaper than booking individually. You have to book a time for the train but if you arive early they will let you get an earlier train.

By the way the channel tunnell isone expensive car park around leMan time

I drove the Corrado over to the Karmann Factory in Onsnabruck Germany last September and went via Holyhead - Folkstone too.

Landed in Holyhead at 12:30am and drove like a c&nt through the night with no traffic, 90 - 100mph all the way. Stopped once for a dirty sandwich at some roadchef, terrible nosh too. Didn't land at Folkestone till 6:30am. Wrecked tired too.

When coming back.......landed in Folkstone at 9am................7:30pm got to Holyhead. 3 hour traffic jams around that M25. Make sure you leave enough time for delays lad!

Also done a few days at the Nurburg ring too. The Corrado Club UK are planning another trip again this year too. Reckon I'll be going again. Brilliant holiday last year! Corrados ahoy!

We went at le mans time last year and our landbridge was €590.

We got the 9.30pm hss from dublin and left holyhead at 12.30 and were in folkestown around 6(included half an hour stop at services and going straight through london and getting lost for about half an hour). We didnt bother with A5 at night, looks shorter route v motorway but its single rd most of way and full of towns so stick to motorway.

One thing about ring though is that its unlikely to be open at the weekend around then. It didnt open till 6pm the evening we were there and only stayed open till 8 or 9.
Gives opening times here

You guys are so bloody helpful!

I race motoX in the UK an travel every month or so in summer along with hitting the odd aircooled vdub show, AA directions are often used and are so easy to follow but you might as well add an hour for every 3-4 hours driving time for breaks. Drove from fishguard to Newquay on my own in a van, to Run To The Sun in May 05, made 2 stops, you need em!

Also have encountered diversions and holiday traffic jams, they can wreck journey time, UK motorway tailbacks are a nightmare!
