Oh it just beeps three times when I ring it :/

drop the + and try 00 instead, sometimes my phone does be a bit funny like that
0044 and drop the 1 from the number
No need to drop the 1 as the 0 has already been dropped to allow the +44
Do you have international calling blocked by your provider? most providers do as a default especially on pay as you go.
