Hands Free Options For Double Din Cars

gf's 2010 polo poverty spec needs a hands free kit and ipod / iphone connection.

The easy solution is to go to halfords, give them €260 and drive away with a parrot MKi9200 installed (price includes €30 extra lead). However lots of the new VAG cars have the OEM bluetooth job so is that possible? If so what are the options / costs / possible pitfalls. Or should I try to get a new head unit that'll do the whole job. If I do that will it look a bit stupid.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Likewise if anybody can recommend a reputable local company who could do this parrot install for the same price as halfolds I'd rather give them the business.

Suffice to say I'd prefer halfords man to get the earful rather than me if / when it doesn't work so intrinsically reliable solutions are needed.

Parrott kits are software upgradeable so it's a good choice.

I have a bury cc9060 but don't use the music function so can't comment on how good/bad music integration is, VW sell it as a dealer fit rebranded as there own.

If you have a larger budget u could try the kenwood dnx520vbt, it's a Vw dealer fit option on UK that has Bluetooth and garmin sat nav all in one, they appear on eBay quite a bit, there are also pioneer equivelants.

That kenwood does look savage but it's waaaay outside budget even second hand.

For future reference Neil's contact quoted me €250 which is a bit better than the others BUT his 20 years experience kinda swings it unless a completely better plan emerges before the end of the day.

Will this work in a polo, does anybody have any experience of this item?

Got this off the girlfriend for Christmas installed it myself and can't fault it, brilliant peice of kit, the overall sound quality is much better even with factory speakers, packed full of features, you will need an additional cable for iPod for music , it has an app function on it also(iphone 4), Bluetooth system is great it uses a parrot system which you can't go wrong.

I have it fitted to my mk4 golf if you have space for double din it should be no problem.
Any questions just ask.

Based on the £329 + extra lead I opted for the parrot kit for the polo. It's the path of least resistance and I'm happy that the installer is familiar with the job.

He's doing the install on Tuesday so all going well it'll be done and dusted then. Thanks everybody for your help.
