Lads whats an average price for yearly gym membership these days?

I cant help for single prices, but have you asked in work if they have a discount somewhere? Or setup a discount with a group membership kinda thing.

Because there was so many of us in work going to different gyms here, everyone joined in and said they'd move to one gym if we got a discount. Cost comes out of our pay automatically so you'd barely notice it.

@murph81, nothing special really. Iv never joiined a gym before and really want to get in shape after quitting the ****. Preferably something with a pool that does swimming lessons (i swim like a rock).

That sucks donkey balls. The aura leisure center in tullamore has a pay as you go plan, so i might do that for a week or two and see about membership then. But 700 a year is a bit steep is it? Does that include a personal trainer.

Hotel near me is 500 a year on offer at the moment normally 600, that includes personal assessment and training plans. Last year for 600 all classes, swimming, pilates etc were included as well. That's in a 5 star Hotel which Tbh is normally empty, so it's fairly quite in the leisure area normally.

Ben Dunne gyms dont have pools though, thats how he keeps his prices so low. My mate goes to one and says its jammers all the time meaning waiting to use weights/machines etc

That said for the price if you dont want to swim its unreal.

One of my local gyms closed down in June, I was chatting to the manager and he said it was due to the costs of running the pool. He reckoned about €2500 a month to keep it heated and up to hygiene standards, and that was just the pool.

Ye. Im looking in the direction of round 3-400. Because im pretty sure i wont be able to go every evening i want to. I just taught that prices woud be fairly competitive in this day and age.

you should be able to get a gym under 500quid these days. ask if you can do a 3 month membership, that way if you fall off the wagon you're not wasting an entire years membership. and don't pay initiation fees! some gyms will tell you they'll waive this fee if you sign up today but its just a sales tactic. also if you are signing a direct debit form make sure you're not signing into a 12 month contract. and if you decide to cancel a direct debit make sure you cancel it with the gym and also cancel it with your bank! i use to work in gyms in dublin and kildare, you wouldn't know by the look of me ha

ps: ask for trial passes - all gyms should let you try out their gym before committing to it. don't feel like a scab asking for them, the staff don't care and just hand them out.

I'm finished my stint with the Ben dunne gym in santry at the end of this month. It has a pool and jacuzzi area. Cost 230 for 15 months. Has everything you need, I've just signed with the kilashee gym in naas, that was 250 for the year, which ain't bad at all

I'm paying €50 for three months in my local gym. Very good rate for students/unemployed/OAPs. Before that I was paying about €700 a year at One Escape in Smithfield. Very clean and had a pool but my current one has a far better weights room, is as clean and the staff are all far more friendly and knowledgeable. A former Connacht strength and conditioning coach runs the place.

Ben dunne (wespoint, blanch) for me. I Paid around 200 for 12 months I think and also got 2 months free too but they are always changine their offers around. Its pretty busy between peek at 5-8PM sometimes, but has everything you'd need in a gym including pool and two steam rooms. It is cheap and cheerful and I have never seen any hassle.

As far as I know all his gyms except the one on abbey street have pools(well at least northwood & westwood have anyway).

im a member in northwood, very good gym, never jammers and always machines available. Kept clean too and helpful staff.

They have an offer at the moment, if you join before the 31st of oct then you get 15mths for EUR260, id say if you wait till sept theyll jack the prices up as the teachers come back to the big smoke

I could be wrong but personally I think you get what you pay for most of the time. I pay 600 a year but the place I joined has a proper pool, not a leisure one that's too hot for actual swimming. Sauna steam room etc, 3 basketball courts, climbing wall and the gym is excellent. Dedicated womens gym so there are rarely too many women around which reduces the crowd(leave it up to you whether that's a good or bad thing) cardio area upstairs, machines down stairs and the proper weights section off that with 2 squat racks, dumb bells ranging from 1kg all the way up to 58kg, one proper flat bench, 4 ones for incline. a lot basically, but then as well as that there's a squad gym, and 7 times a week the public are allowed in, and that gym is serious advanced. 3 squat racks with dead lift platforms at the end of each and the bars and plates alone in that gym are propb close to 15 grand before you add the price of the racks.

A lot of friends think I pay a lot but I think I get a lot with it.
