I have a 2ltr 16v KR (6A) with 16v box and absolutly all the bits n pieces incl the wiring harness to be put into my Mk1. Was thinking of starting myself however time is tight at the moment and was wondering if anybody had any recomendations on a good mechanic that has done this conversion before?

Cheers.

I would strongly recommend contacting Johnny99 as he own JOMO Engineering (044 76700, Westmeath) he's putting a 16v into my mk2 (nearly finished) His workmanship is anal to the point of perfection, and he really knows what he's doing.

Oh I cant wait to get mine back (less than 2 weeks to go)

Cheers lads, I'm in Dublin so Killarney would be a bit of a trek (funny enough though it was Ronan who put me in touch with the Guy that I bought the engine off in Kilkenny!).
Gonna start assembling her over the coming weeks and basically take it as far as I can and then may contact somebody like Johnny99.

Standby to be inundated with "where does this bit go" queries!!!!!

Thankfully Larry had all the full injection system, inlet manifold, cams, loom etc from a KR so I took the lot and bought the balance of bits such as hoses, plates, clutch etc from GSF and main dealer. Also got that converter/ wiring harness yoke for 16v into Mk1 and a 16v SS exhaust manifold from TSR.
Got a 16v (2Y) box from a 16v Jetta in Limerick.

Larry is one sound guy who knows his stuff and extremely helpful! Cheers for putting me in touch with him!
