The battery was flat in my Gti when I went to start it today (not driven for a bit as I only sorted out the insurance a few days ago) so I went to start it by means of my jump leads from the Caddy. However this seemed to trigger a car alarm that I was told was disconnected.
This car alarm also has an imobilsier as when it was activated the engine would not turn.

Anyway to make a long story short I after some telephone calls to the UK seller managed to find a remote controller in the ash tray and after fitting a new battery to the alarm remote control I was eventually able to get my GTi started.

My question - Is there any place that's good with car alarms as I would like to have this alarm re-commissioned (It does not seem to work at all in normal operation)

I also am nervous of a 'rogue' alarm/imobiliser in the car because as usual with these things it will decide to play its games when I am out in the middle of nowhere at the start of a bank holiday weekend.

QUOTE (JMS @ Dec 20 2005, 11:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>@ Alfaguy, what part of the country are you in?

Kerry - but am prepared to travel a reasonable distance to find a good place. Its just I have the memories of the problems I had with a badly fitted alarm on my first Gti - I don't want history repeating itself.

You're prob a bit far away, the crowd I'm thinkin of is in Galway City - MJ Systems (091) 561449.

Did you ever hear of Secure Sounds in Cork City? I have their business card here for some reason, I don't know if they're still on the go or if they do anything with alarms but maybe you should try and contact them to see what's the story.
They would be nearer than Galway if it worked out - (021) 4508008.

There's a company called Faltronic that do a mobile service but as far as I know they're just into digital dash repairs, prob don't do anything with alarms but might be worth a call. (087) 2774757 / (086) 6099606.
