I picked this up on Friday, I decided I needed something sensible as a daily driver. I always liked the sport model 1.8T B5 A4s, spotted this one last week and all of a sudden I had agreed to buy it and was on a plane to Bristol last Friday morning
Anyway, here are some pictures, it's totally standard, 1997, with the 150bhp engine (AEB code) It has covered 118k miles with a full service history and has just passed the MOT in the UK last week.
The car drives really well and feels very well sorted on the road. The sport pack suspension is way less bouncy than the standard A4 setup. It's no sports car but it is well damped without being uncomfortable. The interior is a very nice place to spend time in. The seats and steering wheel are way nicer than a standard or even SE A4 of the same age. The build quality of these cars compared to say an E36 BMW really shines through when you sit into this one after 9 years and 118,000 miles and it still feels rock solid. In a 97 E36 there's a good chance the door card will fall off when you close the door!
When I collected the car it didn't feel to me like it had 150bhp or anything like it. I found 2 cracked vacuum lines, replaced them and cleaned the MAF and AIT sensors and it's much better now. Will be taking a trip down to Westward in Enfield to see what the exact figures are and then looking at some options regarding getting it chipped. That and a cd player will be the full extent of the mods to be carried out on the car. I aim to have it chipped by the 9th of December rolling road day so I can see what the final power figure is.
