Where about on a vr6 engine is the code?

My vr golf is making 189bhp so i want to check is it a 2.8 or was
it changed to a 2.9 at some stage.

Does anyone know the codes for each engine?

i think AAA is a 2.8

ABV is a 2.9

the codes should be on a sticker where the cam cover would be if it had a timing belt if you know what i mean

As u look at the engine its on the left had side. There is a sticker on the head of the engine just hiding behind the fuel lines. as Ronan has said ABV is 2.9 and AAA is 2.8.

late 2.8's were rated for 190bhp too

nope, it was 2.8
the only 2.9 golf from the factory was the LHD only VR6 syncro
It ran obd2 management and a few other tweeks(different air mass meter thingy

etc)

If it had an exchange engine from VW it would be a 2.9 so that could explain the 189bhp.

Tanx lad.fookin sticker is hidden behind the two fuel lines.

She is an AAA so im 15bhp better off

most of them are at least 174bhp
so your onto a winner!
one of the lads, vdubliner, decatted his vr and hit 180bhp with no other mods i can remember

I have a full stainless system i made myself (no cat) and a k&n pannel filter.
