Apparently Evo magazine did a piece of different octane fuels with the new GTI.

Shell 95
======
Power: 205 @ 5600 rpm
Torque: 234 @ 2650 rpm

BP 95
======
Power: 204 @ 5600
Torque: 242 @ 2300-3100 rpm

Shell Optimax (98 octane)
==========
Power: 209 @ 5500
Torque: 242 @ 2500-2900 rpm

Tesco 99
======
Power: 212 @ 5500
Torque: 242 @ 2400-3500 rpm

BP Ultimate (97 octane)
========
Power: 212 bhp @ 5300
Torque: 252 @ 2400-2500 rpm

Sunoco Race Fuel (105 octane but £3.52 Sterling!)
=============
Power: 218 bhp @ 5300
Torque: 248 @ 2500-2800 rpm

Interesting enough, I thought the FSI needed the higher octane fuel to get even the standard figures, but all looks quite healthy.

That's very interesting as you always hear people saying that they're car runs differently on diffferent fuel. I always though that it was bull...but apperently I was wrong

(although I usually am

Tom

I have this article, I will scan it for you later and send it to you, just send me your email, apparently they say the new Gti copes very well with different octane ratings, whats even more astounding are the torque readings over claimed manufacturers 207ftlbs!

so hows the new car? any pics, seriously think of getting a GTI or new VRS Estate, I'd prefer the VRS but the wife wants the GTI, choices choices

We know who wears the trousers
. Theres a couple of Hatch vRS's in Dublin showrooms, why not bring her in and see if she changes her mind
. Phoneix in Bluebell have 2 at present. The estates will be rare if there anything like the previous model, I know one will be coming in Autostation in mid Feb for a customer in Blue (you might sneek a look). You'll also see it at the rallies, Spectator Control Car

Its great fun Tom, although you do need a jeep, image if a very experienced Racing driver put the jeep on its side and had to get out the passenger door
