Starting College in September and just curious to see what kind of laptops people recommend or if there is anything particular that is important to consider . For some reason Id like an Apple laptop but again not decided . Maybe the Apple laptop would be overkill but from what ive seen and heard they are easy to use , tough and dont slow down as much as others but maybe im wrong ?

If not id go with something middle of the road like a Dell or Toshiba

My course is Business Studies in UL if that helps ?

choose one that is fast and light! remember you'll be carrying it around a lot so think about that.
get a backpack laptop bag carrying 1 bag is better then 2.

over 4 years ago in college i got a Macbook in first year

still using it with work, and with college. coming on 5 years old now, never had a problem with it. never needed to be wiped or taken apart or over heated. and my battery has been grand. even today my laptop on all day, not plugged into the mails and its still up and running.

compared to a few other branded laptops bought at the same time, they have zero battery life, chargers broke, screens falling off etc etc..
altho i do look after it very well. the quality has been reflected in its performance.

hope this helps

Bought my macbook 2nd hand in 2009, its 5 years old now and has seen me through college, an internship and has travelled around the world with me. Im a designer too so its used everyday for at least 8-9 hours. Battery is still spot on as is everything else. Its a worthwhile investment, mine owes me nothing and id happily hand over the money for another one in the morning. Wouldnt touch a pc to be honest!
Hope that helps, if you cant stretch to a macbook an Acer would be your next best bet
