I have a 97 golf 1.4 which has been misbehaving, cutting out when I'm deccelerating and clutch down.

So I just had it serviced and amongst other things, apparently the clutch is all but gone, the idle speed regulator needs to be replaced. I am in Edinburgh at the minute and The guy says that the regulator will cost £250 but i might be able to find it cheaper online...

please help me avoid financial ruin!

where will I get one cheap?

Thanks in advance!

I got the wife a mk3 golf 1.4 a year ago and was the worst car ever... started some days had the same idling problem as described...just dung basically...cured some of the problems by resettting the ecu...£20. The idle unit on them is a big plastic thing on the inlet maniflod isnt it...Think my lambda was dodgy as well... have u checked it

As for cleaning the the throttle body, is that something I could do myself and if so so...how?

these are the errors that came up when he ran the diag:

533 Idling Speed Regulator

519 Manifold Pressure Sensor

525 Lambda Sensor

519 + 525 only occured once and he thinks that is something to do with the
car stalling because of the ISR.
