Hi, I am just wondering is it possible to tax a car without having it insured?

all your doing on a tax for is making a decleration that you have the car insured, they dont check it and dont really care, its all just about red tape procedures. ive often mixed up my policy numbers between the two cars on the forms by accident and left it to it. question is, why do you want to tax it without insurance? id be running the other way round.

doubt its anything dodge, my policy allows me to drive any car as long as it is not in my name and the car is nct'd and tax'd, prob something along them lines for this lad. They don't check policy numbers anyway, and that's for sure because i taxed my Capri with my mk2 policy by accident before and nothing was said.

try a capri with a high lift cam running on bike carbs with a stright thru exhaust, absolute conversation starter ha. I just used to have the paper work with me the whole time and nothing was ever said then. I know a lad that had the same set up with his insurance and the car got stolen and burnt out, not a leg to stand on and had to just take it on the chin. For the few hundred it might cost to insure the ranny or someone on it, I think its worth it.

he has already explained his situation

This is not exactly the case. Yes they do insure you on other cars but only if both cars are in roadworthy condition.

So therefore if your car is in garage it is seen as non road worthy and hence you have no insurance on any car.

I spent twenty minutes on phone going through this one day with a lady in quinn direct.

I rang the next day and had very same converstaion with a male in quinn direct and both insisted that what i said above is the case.
