QUOTE A DUBLIN salesman miraculously swam to safety after a man he'd just met one day earlier locked him in a car and drove off Howth Pier.

Car dealer Jeremy Beshoff was lucky to escape with his life yesterday when a customer went on a murder-suicide mission.

Mr Beshoff (21) managed to smash through the window of a Mini Cooper that plunged around 20ft into Howth Harbour.

I heard that this morning alright, mad stuff!

It was a new red mini with white stripes up the bonnet and the roof. When I heard it yesterday it sounded dodgy out but presume they couldn't comment until they knew more. Beshoff lad is only 21.

I think the jokes should be left to one side.

The lad that tried to kill the salesman or the the salesman?
Because I'd imagine the salesman would not give a shit about a joke like that and the other lad deserves no respect.

who the hell are you to say he deserves no respect - ffs he obviously wasnt well if he committed suicide and worse still trying to bring an innocent person with him but to say he deserves no respect is disgracefull in my eyes, yes he was wrong but dosent deserve that statement

you obviously never knew anyone to commit suicide and if you did you are obviously one of the kind of people that have no compasion for it or mental health issues

Well first off I do know people who have but none of them have tried to drag anyone with them. How is what he did right? I can understand suicide but to try and kill and innocent salesman at the same time?

QUOTE (Orla @ Jul 15 2010, 03:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>excuse me where did i say it was right - in fact you will see i said he was wrong to bring someone with him,

You fairly jumped at my comment originally and that is all you are saying in reply?

So why should I respect someone who tried to do that? Granted he must have had problems but I won't respect someone for doing that.

can people not use the term "commit suicide" please.
the word "commit" suggests a crime.
people who die by suicide should not be criminalized
they are people who are in a very dark place.

the correct term is "die by suicide"

thanks

Well Orla is the only one that has said "committed" but i think that is splitting hairs.
He did try and kill someone however

nobody mentioned suicide been criminalizedm commit can be used in many senses

im very sympathetic to those with mental health issues and depression and was merely trying to defend the deceased, apologies if my terminology offended you Trev

no worries orla.
it all happens in the heat of "debate"
when ever i hear about a suicide my first thought is about the family and friends of the person who died and what they must be going through.
i think it's their feelings we should be thinking of primarily before we make comment

I don't mind if people have opinions that differ to mine but they need to be able to have a reason for them, when you were questioned about his attempt to kill and innocent man all I got were these smiley faces in return.
