Were these the inspiration behind the design of the beetle??

It could be a beetle, wasn't there one of these at dubshed before, lovely motor but had beetle hubs, remember kev (Bleezdub) pointed it out to me.. Beautiful car even if it was a rep.. Not saying this is the same car or a rep but looks similar..

Great find Paudie.

It's '59 356 A T2. I know someone who had the pleasure if driving it recently.
They were built on VW parts and apparently drives as good as it looks. Obviously a precursor to the 911s.

A few more pics of them....very striking motor

By far one of the most beautiful cars ever made

Kvinyl on here has one of them... It was in an issue of retro cars. The same mag Ronan's Golf was in
Its a 59' 356A T2, 1600 with Webber carbs. Lowered 4inches (front) 2inches (back)
It was down at the show in limerick the past two years.
It was parked beside a Yellow one this year near the ice-cream van iirc

This was his old 62' 356B iirc...

One of the lads living in Oranmore has one he was in our convoy down to fermoy last yr. Its a beautiful car and the sound of it blasting through the tunnel was unreal.

Dr Ferdinand Porsche designed the beetle for Hitler as a car for the people but the 356 was the first Porsche it was built on a chassis very similar to the beetle but with a tweaked engine, ye the Porsche centre Dublin have one it’s on loan from the Porsche museum in Stuttgart, you see a lot of replica ones in England built on beetle running gear. This one looks very nice tho.
