Bumper Question

685 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Geo
Today I was reversing my Gti out of the garage and as there is a steep slope on rough stones at the front of it the front lip spoiler got caught in a stone and it separated the two sections of the black spoiler - nothing is broken thank god but it is not easy to get the two bits back together.

Did anyone encounter this before on their big bumper Gti's - I was on to the guy I bought it from and he said those black inserts slide out sideways and then its just a matter of sliding the bits back together - is this correct (I am sure he is right) but I always like to hear a dozen other opinion's before I act.

I had to do this a few times in my car, just pull the two sections out towards you carefully and slip the plastic tongue/lip (it's on the letf side I think) into the slot in the other one. Should work fine, just take it easyand give the whole splitter a push back afterwards just to make sure it sits properly.

yep, exactly like the man said.

and if your car is lowered, you'll be able to do it in the dark/your sleep etc soon.

id have to agree with that or if your worried about breaking it take one side off
theres only a few screws holding it on from the underside.take it off and it
just slides back into possition and screw it back up.easy job.

jukes

(taking it for granted its a mk1?)
