First of all I will be going for 16" wheels for this, don't know what yet but definetly 16's as I think they look best on Raddo's.

So picked up 4 Hankook Pro Evo S1's in 215/35/16's which should be fairly nice and grippy for the Corrado during the summer months.

Small updates but i'm flat broke!

herself had them on the fiesta for a while, good tyre and not too pricey. the sp sport 9000 dunlops are better but way more expensive!

Basically anything in the bay I don't need in the bay, holes and brackets etc will be done away with and the chassis legs smoothed. Will relocate as many things as possible.

Looking for a suggestion as to what to do with the expansion tank?

There's no way i can afford the actuall manual!

I'll have a look for now again Paudie, it was hit and miss trying to find it and I still haven't opened this one as I haven't got a file extractor installed.

Had Dunlop SP's before and loved them, great tyre. These were originally on a set of Schmidt TH's a mate of mine had, were fairly good. We'll see what they're like anyways. Was looking up prices for them though they seem very expensive? Like 150e per tyre?

Will that eliminate the need for an expansion tank? Can you explain it a bit to me, thanks

ya they're like 148 euro each on a 205/40/17

ya just hook it up to the rad, replace the 3way connector on the hose to the old tank with a straight section of pipe. and same for the top overflow from the tank.

just bleed the system by running the car and add water in until it reaches the top.

Will any E36 rad do the job? Or is it a specific one? Thanks for the info by the way I haven't ever heard of that being done before.

Had looooooaaads of fun removing the dash today, not a fun job at all. Will take another stab at it at the weekend when I've actual light.

Anybody have an engine crane I could borrow for Saturday around or near the limerick area?

Yeah a 318is rad should work (I think!) however you would need to fabricate mounting brackets. There's another top fill rad that fits in without a bother but I can't think off hand what it is.

With removing the dash, is your heater unit working in the car or was it broken?? Oh and don't forget to do the pollen filter while the dash is out! Proper bitch of a job otherwise!

Don't have an engine crane, but hope this helps

Fair play declan. I remember when Mike got that rado first. He was doing the body work on the ferrari at the time. Didn't he rebuild that engine too? I have a crane for you if you want. Any day next week we could organise it.

edit Different Rado im thinking of

Thanks Ciaran thats great, and the heater was working perfectly, i'm taking the dash out to send it away to be flocked and remove the rest of the sound deadening behind it. The interior is being resprayed also so it'll make things handier for Alan spraying it. Don't want him missing anything
Image
About the rad, will I have to also run the Corrado rad or will the 318is rad work by itself? Any links to where its been done before so I can read up on it? Thanks again
Image

Nope he didn't rebuild this engine afaik but i'll be giving it a fairly good overhaul anyways with new parts. Yeah he's gifted with bodywork, the work on the Ferrari is unbelievable. That'd be unreal if I could borrow the engine crane off you! Thanks a million! Would this Saturday be ok? I need to get my ass into shape flushing off bits of the bay

Afraid not bud, I'm off to England Friday til Monday. I'm off work for a few weeks though so pretty much any time after that.
Let me know sure.
The e36 rad has the expansion bottle built into the side of it. No need for the corrado one if you use this, you'll just connect the two water hoses off the engine and away you go!

Disconnected the driveshafts, unplugged all the loom, all engine mounts unbolted, engine was perfectly ready to come out, engine crane at the ready and BOOM, exhaust bolts were welded in and didn't have an angle grinder to hand to grind them off. So the engines staying put while I go skiing for a week! Sooo close to getting resprayed in February not much left to do.

Thanks to Steve_Vrub my penis for the lend of the torque bar and Daveslp for the lend of the crane, cheers duuuuuudes!

Didn't bother taking pics as I was doing it in the pissing rain and wind with no light so the boobs will have to make up for that, can't wait to have the garage ready for her return from paint

Will be so much easier to get work done.

Haven't updated this in a while have been busy.

Engine's out, just have to tidy up the loom, out with dash and remaining interior and remove the brake master cylinder on the bulk head as well as line's etc so the full engine bay can be sprayed. Off for paint in 2 weeks. Macadamia brown outside, Champagne/gold colour inside still undecided on colour though.

Had planned on flushing engine bay and tidying it up but seeing as the G60 looks a fairly messy engine when sitting in a bay there's no point, also there'll be intercooler piping that'll have to be re-routed as well as cold air feed, coolers, fuel pressure regulator etc etc.

Picked up a thermostatic oil cooler thanks to Richie (RG16VT) and hoses to re-route the water back into the block rather than using the water cooled oil filter thanks to Daveslp.

MASSIVE thanks to Dave also for the very generous lend of his engine crane, much appreciated dude!

No bother Dec, glad to help. Let me know if your doing some sanding/prep for paint...if I'm around I'd be glad of the experience...need to turn myself into a 10k paint job pro sharpish!

I don't mean to sidetrack this project, but I know I will
Image

After yesterday at Dubshed I have made up my mind that although I hope my Corrado will be finished to a decent standard, hopefully have nice fitting wheels and sit nice etc, I will use it on trackday's more rather than show and shine events. It would absolutely drive me nuts if I had to park it up after every show for fear of scratching the paint. So I hope to enjoy this car to it's full extent when money allows on track aswell as NCTing it for the odd road trip to some events.

So interior is now fully stripped of nearly everything, dash, heater matrix etc. Just have to take out the remainder of the interior loom. All sound deadening is being chucked out as it's rather heavy (have about 20kgs removed). I hope to however get some new heat and soundproof for firewall for behind the dash.

All brackets and clips have been removed from the bay in order to get it ready for paint, jut left to degrease it and remove the remainder of the seam sealer.

Main thing i'm focusing on now is saving up for the respray for engine bay, jam's and full exterior. In the meantime I will underseal or paint the car underneath and give the full interior a lick of paint seeing as there is no interior going back in.

Just a bare shell now with windows, more work this weekend and will get up to date pictures soon also. Lots of work ahead

Only getting to work on this every odd weekend as the car is in Limerick and I live in Dublin now for work. I have been in and around the car about a million times and I have not found 1 spec of rust, only minimal surface bits on rad panel and subframes etc, it's mind boggling!
