Anyone can buy a mint car and fit fancy wheels. So I bought this, one to actually see what's involved in car repair, and two to have a truly one off mint car. Some my recognise this from the money pit project on here. It's in need of a lot of work, new sills both sides, arch work, roof rain gutter both sides, new booth lid. Car is in with Davy Pickard (davyp) Waterford at mo so that should keep him busy for a bit.
Got a doner golf shell from neilc for parts (thanks again)was a French import no rust this is it now

And this is as far as Davy's got on the Vento.

Well there's a hole I could put a box of matches through in the rain gutter where the front roof bar would fit,and arches were bad in usuall places with patches and holes between so better to do it right and replace. Bubble under licence plate on boot. So got a clean one from breakers €20.

Thanks for commets, and yes this should be good.

QUOTE (MINIVINNIE @ Oct 15 2011, 06:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>was the rust that bad on it?
It was bad When some one had repaired a hole in the roof under the roof gutter with a rubber patch

and polish don't fix rusty holes in sills

but all this don't matter as its going to be better than new after davey is finished with it can't wait to see her after a new coat of paint

have a look at Volfs jetta thread his zender wheels had fake glued in bolts and some broke so he drilled them out and tapped them to take some polished allen head bolts

You are very close Shane

, but actually they were aluminium "fake bolts" with spline , pressed into the holes in the wheels
Image
, I tapped them out with punch and hammer from the other side
Image
, and then redrilled and tapped the holes for m8 real deal bolts
