Hi guys i picked up an a4 there yesterday for really cheep but the turbo is cutting out at 3.5rpm in 5th u can really feel the loosing of the turbo almost just a stal in the engine.

any ideas,? could this be just a boost leak?

Are you isolating the problem to fifth gear? Does it not behave the same in each gear at the same revs? Would seem odd to only happen in fifth.although...you are doing bout 100mph at that point, a strange speed limiter?
Does not sound like a boost leak as you would hear and feel in in all gears.
Scan for faults.

I beg to differ lads, u would not hear a boost unless it was severe, the reason the OP might only notice this in higher gears is because there is hIgher load and slower spool so problems are noticed more. It could be a few things, boost leak, faulty actuator, N75 etc..
Start by getting it scanned

I can never understand this kind of thing. You have spent hours taking shots in the dark by cleaning pipes and intercoolers and EGR valves and replacing vac lines. You obviously don't have the proper equipment to test and diagnose the problem (eg VCDS)

Would you not have been better off paying someone whose job it is to have the equipment and knowledge to diagnose these faults to spend a couple of hours on it?

Or at least make some effort to take the advice given to you by four members in this thread alone and get it scanned for codes.
