aight so

your going to want to strip off the old paint other wise after you have repainted it in your army colours the under cote paint may peal and ul be left with a missing patch of paint

im in the process of repainting 3 cars at the moment so i can tell u all details on it..#
to scratch off the old paint-get sand paper 180 grit and rub it all over the car, until the shine is gone out of the paint and and where the paint is pealing scratch it down well.
once the shine is gone out of the paint-the new paint will stick to the panels much better.sanding down the car is a long process.by hand you could spend hours and hours. air compressed pam sanders are great for the job.but by hand is perfect either.
iv only ever used guns to paint. never rattel cans.

pm me if you need me details on the design

that car is sweet...you can see where the top half was painted green and the bottom half brown and then black green and brown woman stencils...now that is cool!!

careful now! you can actually get paint like that kinda, called porta fleck, comes in a can, maybe 7 different paint colours in tin on top of each other, push in spray gun pickup pipe and it punctures the paper between the different pint levels, 7 holes in pick up pipe too, and away you go, gives a rainbow speck effect on wall, the last time i saw it was in school toilets when they were revamping it, was doing the 2nd fix there at the time, so there you go another bit of totally useless info

........and stabila and hilti sell replacement bubble units for their sprit levels! called vials

my sisters ex wanted this done so he approached one lad and asked him would he do it and your man was like yeah swing by my gaff and i'll show you my portfolio if you like it i'll do the van for €400(somethin around that.)
he then went to another lad and he was like bring enough paint in the colours you like and a slab of beers and we'll have some fun.
he never did it in the end but both these lads were proper grafitti artists.

useless story but there you go.

i'd say it'll look good.

yea i like tis more and more every time. maybe a darker green on de top would suit here better but i think them stensils are de way. And also a few hidden or once off stensils in different parts to give a little personal touch, nothin too big but jst something to make someone go look a bit harder at de paint job.

heres a mk4 in purple grey black ratlle can style http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/zero...SC_3585copy.jpg

i have plans to do something like that with something.... i dont know what yet but i'll get there eventualy.
When i get my mk1 sorted i have my eye on a mk1 jetta i know is lying up so as a temporary paint job (or possibly finished one) i'm getting the whole car done in matt black, then getting two other shades of black or (in Fr Ted fasion)very very very very dark grey and doing the camo pattern so that it looks all black from a distance yet stands out when closer to it.

something like this: http://www.jdsports.co.uk/uploads/products...4649_32004A.jpg
