QUOTE (gn3dr @ Mar 24 2006, 10:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>I would have a little chuckle but at the end of the day I'd be laughing at the fact that he couldn't afford what he wanted so there a bit of snobbery in that I think.

Now when looking at one of these little boy racer cars with snow plough spoilers, neon lights, drainpipe exhausts, fake dump valves etc.. that's a whole other story - I'd be wetting myself laughing at these. These guys obviously have spent absolute fortunes on their cars and have absolutely zero taste.
Also as I said in my original post my main issue was with posting the car with all details on a public forum.

If anything the guy sticking the RS4 badge on his 1.6 A4 is more deserving of being laughed at in public than the fibreglass and neon light brigade.

You may have a point about posting details about certain cars on a public forum, eg real RS4s or other very rare high performance machinery, but lets face it that A4 doesn't fall into that category. The country is fecking polluted with 1.6 A4s, sticking up a picture of one with the reg number on it isn't going to make any difference.

With regard to the whole petrol versus diesel argument, I think you are guilty of snobbery towards diesel cars by your own admission. You say 'performance' and 'diesel' don't belong in the same sentence. I say '1.6 A4' and 'RS4 badge' don't. You (wrongly in my opinion) claim the latter is snobbery. What's the difference?

PS: Stick up a few pictures of your S6 there till we have a look at it (taken in a neutral location with the reg blanked out natrually

It sounds like a nice car.
