Anyone know of any websites in the UK that have classifieds for comercial 4x4's. Autotrader is useless so there must be a big one out there that I'm missing.

QUOTE (Rushey @ Jan 17 2006, 10:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yeah, its for my uncle. He's looking for a 95 - 97 Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 2.8TD Commercial.

Givern that the SWB commercial 4x4 is an Irish creation, I'd say you will be out of luck trying to source one in the UK. The distributors, in Ireland, get regular passenger 4x4 from their factory and have a subcontractor, in Ireland, replace the windows, cut out the seats and seatbelts, and install the flat floor required in the regulations. The chances of getting anything other than a Discovery commercial, in the UK, will be remote. You could import a regular passenger vehicle and get it converted to a van, but at that age it's hardly worth while.

I read, at one stage, Toyota were crushing €3m worth of windows and seats each year on the instructions of Revenue who dictated any components removed from the cars must be put beyond use. The van conversion people were running knives through hundreds of brand new leather seats, just to render them unusable again. Madness.

I'd say your best bet is to go to a 4x4 specialist like West End Motors, in Mullingar www.4x4.ie

or Kanes in Granard, Co.Longford, who have up to 200 4x4 in their yars at any one time. They are fairly bluint people but are shifting an incredible amount of 4x4s, apparently at very good prices.

I was looking at purchasing from Kanes of Longford this week. Just so you are aware the prices he gave me included VAT for a new vehicle but you are unable to claim back VAT as he is importing them from the UK. They werent very forthcoming with this information either.

If you get a VAT invoice you can claim VAT back. If Kane is registered for VAT, which I assume he is, then I don't see what the problem.

What were you buying? The only "commercial" vehicles they import are the crew cabs, I think.

There are different Kanes operating out of Edgeworthstown, no relation, I think, and are also expanding their 4x4 business.

Its well known in the 4x4 trade of Kanes antics with VAT.....

What are those antics? (Just curious, I have absolutley no connections with any of them)
