It's the N249 valve, different to the N75. I think it allows the ECU to activate the dump valve if it wants/needs to.

Just been on to the main stealer about this, apparently there are 2 solonoid changeover valves that this could be apparently. The N249 means nothing to the parts man unfortunately.

Any way of finding out part numbers on the N249 valve or is it a case of replacing the 2 solonoid changeover valves?

I'd say by the 2 valves he means the N75 and the N249. Does he have part numbers for the 2? If so then one should be something like 058 906 283 F (or some other letter) That's the N75, it's the other one you need.

Are you sure you need to change the valve? Did you do another scan to see if the code came back?

Havent done another scan yet but the boost is still fading in and out. Done a bit of reading on the net and it could be my aftermarket dump valve.

Apparently if theres a problem with the valve itself it'll throw up an electronical error and not a mechanical.

From Vortex:-> N249 valve runs about $180 at the dealer. It's the solenoid that triggers the vacuum signal for the DV, just as the N75 solenoid does the same for the wastegate. If you get a malfunction that says "N249...MECHANICAL...", the wisdom of the list says that it's usually a problem with the DV, not the solenoid. Malfunctions that show an ELECTRICAL cause are usually indicative of a bad solenoid. Or so they say.

What am i going to do? Replace aftermarket DV with OEM one thats in the boot, get it scanned and clear the faults and see if they come up again. Then back to the mapper to get it smoothened out!

I'll get back onto the main stealer and see if i can get part numbers...

 

Boost fading in and out sounds like the N75 to be honest. When I changed the N75 on my A4 it was a different car afterwards.

 

I'd be checking all the hoses before ordering a valve. A few of the hoses on my Cupra were causing problems before I got them sorted.

I think there's an N112 with the N249, so that's the two valves. They should be located under the second enginer cover, ie; the bit at the front of the inlet manifold, there's a couple of bolts holding it on. Here's a diagram, to help you find them (17, 18)

A bit slow on that response, bit if the boost is fading in/out, then as I said, I'd go checking every hose before ordering anything. And not just the major boost hoses, every little vacuum hose. You'd be surprised at what can cause you problems. I traced a problem back to an oil breather hose on the cam cover, and another smaller vacuum hose on the underside of the intake manifold. (This was after forking out for N75, DV, Temp Sensor ........, so I learnt the hard way).

If you want to try swapping a healthy N75 in, just give me a shout and I'll give you a dig out.

 

Right click and Save as, cheers Tom. The boost fading in and out could be caused by the map and a leak/faulty valve....

I was going to upgrade the N75 to one off a 225 TT alright as discussed at length on other forums.

I'll have a butchers on Saturday as theres no light in the evenings anymore.

Not worth your while messing with N75's, just stick with what's it's supposed to be. Probably an 'F' for your car.

i had a look on the Ross Tech site and found this about the second fault i found . If it was my car i would be checking the hoses first as Thos said . Hope this helps .
